Description | A view of the test track at Chiswick Works bus works in the early 1920s, where vehicles were tested before being sent out on the road. Overhauled LGOC NS-type bus chassis are being put through their paces, driven over the test track 'dip', a 300-yard (275 m) test hill with a gradient of 1:15. The chassis is the frame of the vehicle, including the wheel end engine, over which the body of the bus was built. |
