Item content Attribute Value Annotation THE THAMES EMBANKMENT, LOOKING EAST FROM HUNGERFORD BRIDGE, 1923. The Hotel Cecil (built by the Liberator Society) was opened about 1895, the Savoy in 1889; beyond the latter is the Institution of Electrical Engrs. (built in 1887 as the Examination Hall of the R.C.S. and R.C.P., and acquired by the I.E.E. in 1908, for £50,000); above it appears the Bush Building in the Strand, built 1921-3. Cleopatra's Needle was erected in September, 1878. Observe the growth of the trees since opposite photograph (of 1873) was taken; and the traffic.
