Metropolitan Railway electric stock trailer carriage, 1904

This carriage is one of 30 built for the newly electrified Metropolitan Railway between 1904 and 1905. It is a third class trailer car and the only survivor of its type. Serving on the Uxbridge branch, it would have formed part of a six-car train, with motor cars at either end. Many carriages like this were used for storage during the Second World War. This one was purchased from the army in 1985. Sadly, it suffered fire damage before it was transferred to the Museum's collection in 1997.
