St Christopher, 1934 : Vladimir Polunin (1880-1957)

Gouache

This image compares the patron saint of travellers with London Transport. The stylised approach reflects a trend in European art known as 'cubo-futurism', based on cubist forms and dynamic movement. Polunin was the chief set designer of the Russian Ballet.
