Portrait photograph of Mr Harold Hutchison, London Transport Publicity Officer between 1947 and 1966. (The subject holds a cigar to his mouth) Hutchison was responsible for the design of London Transport's printed ephemera, maps, and information graphics. He also controlled the commissioning of new poster artwork. In 1951 he became chairman of the Design and Industries Association (a post once held by Frank Pick). Hutchison was also a member of the London Transport design panel, advising the Board on the design of stations, bus shelters, rolling stock and buses.
