Decade - 2000s
Since 2000, posters have continued to promote the activities and services of the newly formed TfL. Many designs employed modern photography and digital technology techniques. Almost all have been commissioned through agencies. However, more traditional art based poster campaigns were also commissioned, such as the ‘Simply’ series which ran until 2001. Since then, commissions from London Transport Museum, including the bold series of London skylines by Paul Catherall, have ensured that the pictorial art poster retains some presence on the Underground network.
Platform for Art, London Underground's public art programme, was set up in 2000. They have since issued posters to promote their exhibitions, installations and community projects.
