Kraber was also known by the name John Barker.
Biography:
John Barker was a graphic artist who worked under the name Kraber in the late 1930s. After finishing his part time art training in 1932, Barker was awarded a scholarship by the International Guild of Decorators to travel to Italy and Paris. He began his career as a graphic designer in 1934, working as an assistant to Austin Cooper and teaching at Eastbourne School of Art in the evenings. In 1950 he won a Poster Competition for the United Kingdom Recovery Programme. As well as posters, Barker designed textiles, magazine covers and murals for several exhibitions.
