After graduating in fine art from Trent Polytechnic, Richard Spice started his career as a designer and illustrator. He was represented by 2D Illustration Agency. His first commission was for a window poster for the Body Shop, which was soon followed by work from Barclays Bank, Royal Festival Hall and Benson & Hedges. Spice also carried out editorial work for Vogue, Elle, Essentials and Observer magazines. From the 1990s, Spice worked as a graphic designer for the greeting card company Paper Rose. He is now a freelance designer living in Nottingham.
