Biography:

At the age of 16, Quentin Blake was contributing to Punch magazine. Best known for his witty illustrations for Roald Dahl books, he has gone on to become one of the most famous children's book illustrators in Britain. Blake taught illustration at the Royal College of Art for over 20 years and was Head of Department between 1978 and 1986. He has written and illustrated numerous children's books, including 'Patrick' and 'Mister Magnolia'. In 1999, Blake became the first Children's Laureate. This has enabled him to contribute significantly to the further development of literature for children.
