Oliver Bevan is a painter, working within the Realist tradition. His early desire to become an architect, led him to want his paintings 'to exist as objects in a planned environment.' After experimenting with more abstract styles, he followed the influence of late 19th century painters Walter Sickert and Edgar Degas, the German movement 'Neue Sachlichkeit' and the Camden School. His paintings became predominantly figurative, capturing cityscapes and scenes from everyday urban life in rich, vibrant colours.
