Catherine Morland's art explores ways of seeing to question the manner in which we view and order the world around us. She uses smoke, light and water to draw attention to the unstable quality of sight. Her installations and projections use fragmented, flickering and dissolving light to create fleeting images. She creates these effects by drawings on glass blocks with soot. When light passes through them they project patters, like after images or recalled memories, onto the gallery wall. Since graduation, Moorland has exhibited extensively in the UK.
