Jean Dupas was a prolific artist and designer. In 1922 he won a gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Francais, after which his decorative panels and poster designs became highly fashionable. He contributed to Vogue and Harper's Bazaar and earned commissions from commercial clients in France, England and America. He also worked on the decor of the ocean liners Île-de-France, the Liberté and the Normandie.
