J E Kashdan was also known by the name John Kashdan.
John E Kashdan was a painter and printmaker, who occasionally did commercial work. He was born in London to a Russian father and English mother. In 1940, Kashdan turned down a place at the Royal College of Art and moved to Cambridge. He had his first one man show at the Redfern Gallery in 1945 and later shows in Chicago and Philadelphia, USA. He taught at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, from 1951, at Guildford School of Art from 1972 and then Epsom School of Art, where he retired in 1982. He had shows at England & Co in 1989 and 1991. His work is held by the British Museum.
