Biography:
Edward Bawden was a successful and prolific illustrator and graphic designer. His wide ranging commissions included designs for posters, press advertisements (including a series for LT), book illustrations, ceramic decorations, wallpaper and textiles. He also collaborated with his friends Eric Ravilious and Cyril Mahoney on mural designs for Morley College (1928-30), and later taught graphic design at the Royal College of Art (1930-40 and 1948-53). He was made a Royal Designer for Industry in 1948.
