Dorothy Hutton was a calligrapher and painter. In the late 1920s she studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts under F Ernest Jackson. She exhibited throughout Britain in the 1930s and 1940s, on a number of occasions at the Royal Academy. Hutton became renowned for her depiction of flowers. London Transport commissioned a series of seasonal posters to advertise flowers in bloom across the city. Hutton was an official artist to the Crown Office and from 1964 a member of the Art Worker's Guild.
