Artist - Anthony R Barker

Anthony R Barker (also known by the name Anthony Raine Barker), born 1880 in Harrow, Middlesex, died 1963. Designed posters for the Underground Group 1913-1914

Biography:

Anthony Barker trained as an architect. In 1909 he won the RIBA Soane Medallion for design and in 1910, the Certificate of Honourable Mention. He went on to become a painter, lithographer and engraver of landscapes and architectural subjects. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and his work is held at the V&A, the British Museum and the Walker Gallery in Liverpool. He also illustrated a number of children's books. Barker was a leading member of the Senefelder Club in the 1920s.
