Anthony Eyton interrupted his training in fine art to serve during the Second World War. On returning to London in 1947, he resumed his studies. In 1951, he received an Abbey Major Scholarship to work in Italy. Further travel to India, Israel and the Sudan has informed much of his work. In 1958 Eyton was elected to the London Group. He was Head of Painting at St Lawrence College in Kingston, Canada (1969-1971) and taught at the Royal Academy Schools (1964 to 1999). Since 1999 he has been Artist in Residence at the Eden Project in Cornwall, where his work records the seasonal developments in the landscape. Eyton was an active member of the Royal Watercolour Society until 2004.
