Alfred Robert Hayward was also known by the name Alfred Hayward.
Alfred Hayward was a painter of landscapes and portraits. He worked primarily in oils, but also produced a number of large scale murals. He travelled widely throughout Europe to paint. Hayward was a member of the Chelsea Arts Club. He exhibited at the Paris Salon, The New English Art Club and the Leicester Galleries. Some of the work he produced during the First World War, as an Official War Artist, is now held by the Imperial War Museum and the Tate. In 1975, there was an exhibition of his work at the Belgrave Gallery, to mark the centenary of his birth.
