20th Century London caption: Two young children are riding bicycles along Wanstead Road between 1910 and 1920. This long rural avenue is seen from Widmore Road in Bromley. Bromley is a suburb on the southeastern edge of London, 10 miles south of the City. It was made a borough, so part of Greater London, in 1903. There was a steady housing and population increase from 1890 until 1930. The population grew from 27,397 in 1901 to 35,070 in 1931.
