Standing, from left to right are Mr John Cliff (assistant general secretary of the TGWU), Mr Patrick Ashley Cooper (Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company), Frank Pick (Vice-Chairman) and Sir Edward Holland (Chairman, Surrey County Council 1926-30). Neg U12375 shows an almost identical image.

20th Century London caption: The London Passenger Transport Board (L.P.T.B.) was formed in 1933, bringing London's bus, tram, trolleybus and underground railway operations under a single authority. The new board set about creating a recognisable corporate image. Edward Johnston was asked to design a company logo based on his Underground roundel design. This and the Johnson typeface have become an iconic part of London's identity in the 20th century. This group portrait from June 1933 shows the original L.P.T.B. board members. Seated, left to right are: Sir John Gilbert (London County Council Chairman 1920–21), Lord Ashfield (chairman, L.P.T.B.) and Sir Henry Maybury (highway engineer). Standing, left to right are: Mr John Cliff (assistant general secretary, Transport & General Workers Union), Mr Patrick Ashley Cooper (governor of the Hudson's Bay Company), Frank Pick (vice-chairman, L.P.T.B.), and Sir Edward Holland (chairman, Surrey County Council 1926-30).
