20th Century London caption: This image records the conversion of signalling and points to electricity. The Underground was a pioneer of electrically and pneumatically operated signalling. It replaced the older mechanical methods on the earlier lines. The date (10 March 1925) and time (5.20am) the photograph was taken, are etched onto the photo negative, with the negative number.
