Charing Cross Station Hotel and Railway Station on the Strand. Horse drawn traffic in the foreground. There is a replica of Charing Cross (designed by Sir Charles Barry) in the yard. In the foreground of the shot there is a bus with an umbrella, which was a service provided by the Metropolitan Railway between Baker Street and Charing Cross. White comments that these were large vehicles drawn by three horses abreast, painted white and had a pink umbrella on the top deck.
