Aerial view of London Bridge and Pool of London.

Photographed by Central Aerophoto Company, circa 1928

Location: London Bridge

Image no: U4862

Inventory no: 2005/2462

20th Century London caption: This aerial view shows London Bridge and Upper Pool of London, which runs from Tower Bridge to London Bridge. There are ships along both banks. For much of the 20th century, London was one of the most important ports in the world. The London Bridge in this photograph was designed by John Rennie, and finished in 1831. When this bridge was replaced by the present one, in 1968, the Rennie bridge was sold to an American who transported it to Havasu City in the Arizona desert. It is now the centre of a tourist attraction.
