Portrait of Dr John Hopkinson (b. 1848), consultant to the English Edison Company and electrical consultant to Mather and Platt. Elder brother of Dr Edward Hopkinson, consultant employed by Mather & Platt to oversee the installation and testing of the first City & South London Railway (C&SLR) electric locomotives.
