Three-quarter side view of British Railways' Tavern Car no S7892, a restaurant/buffet car with the traditional style of an Old English tavern. They were introduced on both the Southern and Eastern Regions in 1949. This example is a Southern Region car, carrying an 'Atlantic Coast Express' board at roof level. The section of the car nearest the camera is painted to resemble imitation brickwork; a hand-painted 'pub' sign, 'The White Horse' can be seen on the side of the car.

Photographed by British Railways, 13 May 1949
