View of the First Class Restaurant in a British Railways' Tavern Car, which combine the most modern features of a restaurant/buffet car, with the traditional style of an Old English tavern. These cars were introduced on the Southern and Eastern Regions of BR in 1949. It can be seen that the tables are laid for dinner. Note the real oak beams and the lack of windows in the car.

Photographed by British Railways, 13 May 1949
