Opening of the Stanmore branch of the Metropolitan Railway, December 1932. Guests and officials are seen coming out of the street entrance at Kingsbury station. The Metropolitan's Deputy Chairman Sir Clarendon Hyde is standing just to the left of the entrance, whilst in the foreground the Minister of Transport Mr P J Pybus CBE, MP is talking to one of the directors Mr Albert I Belisha; another director, the Rt Hon Earl of Cromer PC, can be seen on the far right. A member of staff, possibly the station master, stands respectfully by a poster panel containing a map of "Metropolitan Railway and Connections". Note the steel and glass canopy, with back-lit fretted steel fascia lettering.
