Northern line platform, Strand station (now Charing Cross). The tiling scheme on the platform wall and tunnel roof can be seen, despite the proliferation of advertisements. The solid disc roundels, bearing the name 'Strand for SE&CR' appear to be painted on the wall; the 'Way Out' sign below the roundel in the left foreground is accompanied by a pointing hand. An illuminated train describer and shaded electric lights are suspended from the tunnel roof. The tunnel wall is completely occupied by large advertising hoardings.
