20th Century London caption: This is a portrait of bus driver George Edward Morris in his uniform. He originally came from Hertfordshire. He came to London in his 20s and at first worked for the Star Omnibus Company. He later moved to the London General Omnibus Company (L.G.O.C.). He worked out of the Albany Garage for many years and from the Chalk Farm Garage. Because his was a reserved occupation, he continued to drive buses round London during the First World War. His daughter, Georgina Eleanor Martha Morris, also joined the L.G.O.C. and worked as a conductress from 1918-19. George Morris retired in the 1920s.
