Full length studio portrait of Alice Elizabeth Lock (Joy Lewzey's mother), a First World War woman bus conductor. She stands resting her left hand on a chair back; behind her to her right is a wooden stand and potted plant. Alice Lock wears her conductor's uniform, high boots, a dark skirt which comes just below the knee, and dark jacket with metal buttons and white piping. She also wears a dark hat with the GeneraL logo at the front.
