20th Century London caption: Spectators crowd the terracing and the pitch at this newly built Wembley Stadium. This was the first FA Cup Final. A crowd of around 200,000 people squeezed into a stadium built for 127,000. Supporters broke down the barriers and spilled onto the pitch. The match went on in spite of the spectacular overcrowding. This was partly because of the pervading good humour, and partly due to efforts of the police, most famously P.C. George Scorey on his legendary white horse, Billy. King George V was watching the match from the royal box.
