A shot looking up Sandford Road, Bromley. A few children are walking on the pavement and there is a delivery man near the centre of the image. He appears to be pouring liquid into urns, perhaps milk.

Unknown photographer, 1910 - 1920

Location: Sandford Road, Bromley

Inventory no: 2005/7611

20th Century London caption: The houses in this shot looking up Sandford Road, Bromley, are typical of the suburban homes of 1910-1920. Houses were often sold directly to the occupant rather than being leased. (Before the First World War, 90% of the population still rented their homes.) Using the new public transport, residents were able to live in more pleasant conditions away from where they worked.
