Three-quarter view of BR tank locomotive no 42279 at the head of a southbound train of compartment stock at Rickmansworth station. This locomotive will be replaced here by an electric locomotive for the onward journey to London. Note the oil lamp on the smokebox door. Part of the northbound platform and signal cabin can be seen on the left.
