Sample image from Decade - 1970s photoControl of London Transport passed to the Greater London Council in 1970. They were keen to encourage public transport use, but the system was in decline, hit further by inflation and staff shortages. One person operated buses became more common, as the RT-Type was phased out, and the Jubilee line opened. Women drove buses and Underground trains for the first time.
