Decade - 2000s

Sample image from Decade - 2000s photoTransport for London took over from London Transport in 2001, to encompass all aspects of transport in the capital, including traffic lights, road signage, taxis, river services and cycling, alongside bus and Underground provision. In 2004 the Congestion Charge was introduced to reduce traffic in the central area, with plans to extend to the west in due course. In 2005 the last Routemaster (RM-type) buses were retired, and the new articulated or 'bendy' buses arrived.
