Lithograph; A view of the northern approach to London Bridge while in a state of progress by George Scharf, 1830

Building up to new London Bridge, 1830 : In the early 19th century, constructing new roads was very disruptive and laborious. Here, the northern approach road to the new London Bridge is being built, with hand-worked winches and hoists the only machines on site to help the workers.
