  • Started designing posters at age 17, without formal training. Went on to become a partner in the Industrial Design Partnership, the first multi-skill design group
  • Co-founded the Design Research Unit, working on the Festival of Britain (1951)
  • Appointed Professor of Industrial Design, Royal College of Art (1959)
  • Consultant designer to London Transport (1963-75)
