Poster; All our own work, artist unknown, 1969

Irish diggers, 1969 : The miners who excavated the Victoria line were mostly Irishmen. It was hot, tough work, but the men could earn at least £100 a week, a large sum in the mid-1960s. This poster featured members of the tunnelling crew when the new Tube line opened.
